Open Position — Assistant Child Care Director

The Chiles Academy Inc. is seeking an Assistant Child Care Director to join our administrative team. We are looking for someone who can lead teachers in the child care setting, manage clerical and office responsibilities, be responsive to day-to-day issues while working closely with the Child Care Director to manage a large team of dedicated professionals. Must love parents, children, families and the amazing work of helping shape and guide tiny humans!

Responsibilities:

  • Answering and directing phone calls in a polite and welcoming manner

  • Making phone calls to parents when children are absent

  • Handling inquiries about child care rates and managing wait lists

  • Assisting with daily attendance and meal count records

  • Reading, writing, and responding to emails in a professional manner

  • Handling payments and writing receipts for child care payments using Teams

  • Assisting with all aspects of program compliance and program regulation including: accreditation, licensing, staffing and professional development, curriculum, quality control, budgeting, and referrals to community agencies

  • Assist Director with hiring procedures for new employees and maintenance of certification requirements for child care staff

  • Ability to interact in a friendly and open manner with staff and parents

  • Accept constructive criticism and customer complaints without becoming defensive

  • Written, mathematics, and oral communication skills necessary for completion of various child care program forms including voucher applications and enrollment packets

  • Knowledge of relevant software applications including MS Office

  • Knowledge of administrative and basic accounting procedures

  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritize work

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to be a team player

Qualifications:

At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent; preference given for at least two years of study in early childhood education
Must pass drug screening and background clearance through Volusia County Schools
Preference given to candidates with a background in child care

Benefits/Salary:

Full time position (40 hrs/wk – 11 months)
Starting pay $15-18/hour depending on qualifications & experience

Semi-monthly pay with “level” paychecks available to avoid seasonal fluctuations due to school breaks and closures
