Open Position — English/Social Studies Teacher
We are searching for a core academic teacher in grades 6-12 certified in English and/or Social Studies. This is a unique opportunity for the teacher who is passionately dedicated to changing the lives of their students. A dedicated group of professionals who educate pregnant and parenting middle and high school students and their children, we are a community that focuses on the holistic needs of everyone, without sacrificing the high expectations we have of ourselves and our students.
The statistics you’ve heard are true: only about 50% of teen parents will earn their high school diploma.
The mission of The Chiles Academy is to combine a community of support and guidance for pregnant and parenting students with the goal of attaining a high school diploma, which will empower them to become independent and responsible citizens.
How do we achieve this? As a public charter school in our 23rd year, we partner with the local school district to ensure our students have access to critical resources while operating under the governance of our own board of directors. As a certified teacher at The Chiles Academy, you will be able to develop and implement standards-based, student-responsive curriculum for a broad variety of learners. Your students attend school while their children attend our on-site early learning center, ensuring the opportunity to educate, influence, and support multiple generations at once.
The most important qualifier for this position is a deeply held belief that every student can learn. You are a good fit for our program if you are:
a creative educator
passionate about pedagogy
flexible and adaptive
committed to collaboration.
We are proud to offer competitive teacher salaries and benefits. We follow a FOUR DAY WORK WEEK and follow the school district schedule for holidays and breaks.
